Ollie Lake - Trail Ride & Campout

Ollie Lake - Trail Ride & Campout

Lets knock the dust off our trailers and put some fresh trail dust on them!

Goal behind this event is to bring together overland trailer owners and those who might be interested in getting one soon but has many questions that need to be answered!

Location selection is specific for the consideration of having plenty of camp area for everyone to park and setup conveniently.

Olallie Lake scenic area is great as it offers great views on the way there as well as at the location (due to forest fires, not as it used to be), but nevertheless, it offers plenty of lake trout fishing, various hiking trails as well as a great overland discovery area as its part of the Oregon's BDR.

October is usually a great month to be in the Olallie lake area considering fall weather, hopefully not to dry to have a proper camp fire.

Lets get together, share stories, ask questions and just have a good time!

Great times to be had - considering everyone behaves - starting with attendees, their young family members including 4 legged ones

Please comment for Q&A

For those wanting to ride along in a group

Meet up location- Ripplebrook Store
Address- 59204 OR-224, Estacada, OR 97023

11:30 am gathering
12:00 pm (noon) leaving to camp

Simplest suggested route from North side (adjust to your knowledge of the area and mapping skills)

From Estacada, take OR-211 S/OR-224 E,
continue for 25 miles to Ripplebrook ranger station,
where OR-224E will become NF-46/Clackamas River Rd,
continue for another 22 miles until you see a sign "Olallie Lake"
turn left onto NF-4690,
stay on pavement for 6 miles until it ends
*this is perfect spot to air down to make rest of the ride comfortable
Keep straight, continue on gravel/unmaintained road for 2 miles,
At the T-intersection, hang right onto NF-4220 (at the signage for Olallie Lake), continue for another 6 miles to Camp Ten campground.

*** Considering group's size, we might switch to another location at the lake, so watch for updates once group's size is confirmed weekend before event.

*** For those who are wanting and willing to try a rough terrain trail, recommendation will be to continue on NF-4220 via Breitenbush Lake and onto NF46 on their way home (details will be discussed at the event)

*** please consider your fuel consumption and needs while traveling for this event, location might not be remote in sense of access, but it is somewhat far off the beaten path, with closest fuel 40-50 miles. Depending on route you choose, Estacada (or Detroit, Government Camp) are your last fuel stop. Highly advisable to top off in those towns and carry addition 5 gallon to be safe, especially if you consider exploring basecamp area.

Snoqualmie Clean Up

Snoqualmie Clean Up

Camp areas in the Snoqualmie National Forest (47.08209, -121.58297) are in dire need of cleanup.

People have been leaving tons of trash at campsites and it's disgusting and a show of poor character.

I'm heading down to try and help cleanup what I can fit into my little 5' truck bed. If 3-5 vehicles (trucks preferred, but any help is welcomed) wanted to come and help out/hang out, that would be awesome.

Trucks preferred due to having a bed to carry bags out. All bags of trash that we clean up needs to be removed from the land.

This isn't an official event, nor am I affiliated with any group or business. I'm just a dude that loves camping and abides by leave no trace; pack it out.
______________________________________________________________________

There is a transfer station in Enumclaw (1650 Battersby Ave E, Enumclaw, WA 98022 ). It's a King Co transfer station, so you must be a King Co resident to use it. There are more details, including fees on their website:

https://kingcounty.gov/.../solid-waste-facilities/enumclaw
______________________________________________________________________

I will bring a couple boxes of thicker contractor grade trash bags. Feel free to bring more, but having sturdy footwear and thick leather gloves is more important.

** Broken glass, sharp metal, nails, sharp objects and drug paraphernalia are all items we may come across. Please come at your own risk **
______________________________________________________________________

There are lots of dispersed camp sites in the area if you want to make a weekend trip out of it. I've personally not decided if I'm camping yet, but I'm going to try too.

Colockum Fall Crawl

Colockum Fall Crawl

This is going to be a quick two day trip over the Colockum area in the Wenatchee mountains. We will meet at the provided coordinates at 3:00 pm and head out from there. We will drive from there for a couple hours or until we find a cool spot to camp. The next day we will head to the top for some amazing views and just hang out for a bit. From there it will be roughly a 3.5 to 4 hour drive to Wenatchee, it will be a slower trail ride because of the terrain. The end time listed is just a suggestion, there won’t be a very tight schedule on this trip. This trail can get pretty rocky but I’ve done it in my stock height f150 several times with no issues. Any 4x4 rig with moderate clearance should have no problem. Once we get into Wenatchee that will be the end of the ride. Not very long, only about 26 miles total. Reach out to me or Justin if you have questions.

Gallagher Head Lake (Fortune Creek Trail) 4x4

Gallagher Head Lake (Fortune Creek Trail) 4x4

This is a true 4×4 trail adventure. A lifted 4x4 vehicle with aftermarket off-road gear and prior 4×4 trail experience is required (A Subaru doesn't count and will not make it). This is an epic an fun adventure and I try to make it out here at least once a year. We can meet up in the small town of Roslyn prior to heading up. Planning on one overnight with myself and I definitely recommend spending the night given how technical the trail can be. Take your time on this, don't rush it and make mistakes because this isn't a place where your rig and be recovered easily.

Requirements:
• Vehicle cannot be factory stock and will need to have a lift on it high enough to clear large rocks

• Trail rated tires (minimum)

• 4×4 or all wheel drive

• Recovery gear

• First aid kit

• Saw/axe

• No alcohol unless you plan on spending the night

Additional:
• Bear spray or firearm is heavily encouraged
• A chainsaw is heavily encouraged
• Traction boards are heavily encouraged

Overland Adventure Rallies

Hello PNW Overlanding will be attending Overland Rally June 20 - 23, 2024. We will have an area set up to meet any of our members and will host a raffle as well. We will also be donating raffles for the night campfire for Overland Adventure Rallies as well.

Here is the two exciting parts and why we are announcing to everyone. We understand people sometimes cant stay the whole weekend so we as a group can give out two free daily passes so you can come in and search the vendors. That being said this will be raffled and we have to submit the name so please only fill this out and a date from 20 to 23 so if won we can submit your name. You cannot give the ticket to anyone else so if you are on the fence about coming then please don't apply. We will pick winners of this in the next month so you have time to sign up.

https://forms.gle/4eSZ8Rz9Yo7oP2t39

The second part if you plan to stay the whole weekend or already purchased your tickets we will have our own personal PNW camping spot so I will need your camp size if you would like to camp in our spot with us. Please fill this info if so
